Board of Directors 2015 – 2016

President: Zoée Montpetit

I grew up on Vancouver Island and moved to Vancouver in 2011. I like to spend my days foraging for edible mushrooms, being creative, teaching, and blogging online. I run the Queer ASL program and also teach ASL Prep at a couple colleges. I spend a lot of time thinking thinky thoughts about my Deaf & Queer identities and really enjoy talking & learning about intersectionality in Deaf communities. I am excited to be on the BCRAD board and contribute to the growth of BCRAD.

Vice President: Kim Palmer

I’m an animator, painter, and media arts generalist from North Vancouver. I graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2011 with a Bachelor of Media Arts in Animation. I love to draw, make short films, and work on all kinds of creative projects. After growing up with a progressive hearing loss, I started formally learning ASL in high school and became involved in the Deaf community around 2011. Now I’m very thrilled to be on the BCRAD Board of Directors and it is my second year working among such dedicated members of the Deaf Queer community.

bio soon to come!

Youth Director: Amar Mangat

My name is Amar Mangat, the guy who tends to smile all the time, even on pictures and very fashion sense. I am a Youth Director At Large for about 2 years now. I am from Toronto, Ontario and moved here when I was young. I am attending school at Langara College for “General Studies” for a year now. I like to spend my days reading fashion blogs, trying to do something different everyday, being creative, and running. I am looking forward to work with youths and the rest of the board on creative things, creating safer spaces, accessible events, and workshops, AND keep BCRAD growing together! If you see me at the BCRAD event or somewhere else, say hello! 🙂
